This file includes corrections to the Lands of Mystery game supplement, a product in the original Justice, Inc. game line, published by Hero Games in 1985. It addresses all errors that have been called to our notice.
Under "Who and What Is This Book For?" we mention that game conversions are included for Mercenaries, Spies, and Private Eyes. However, the deal that statement was based upon never materialized, and the mention wasn't edited out of the introduction. And Chill, for which we did provide conversion advice, wasn't mentioned. Sorry, everybody...
The two subheads on this page ("What's It All About?" and "We Didn't Think It Possible...") were switched.
All the maps were miskeyed. Everyone noticed. But we might as well print the corrections anyway. (The original manuscript had the 1(a), 1(b), 1(c)-type designations, and the production department routinely fixed the maps to a more friendly 1-2-3 sequence. However, a glitch in the proofreading process kept the new map numbers from being put onto the text keys.)
When The Text Says: It Really Means:
(1) 1
(2a) 2
(2b) 3
(3) 4
(4) 5
(5) 6
The "x" for (2a)/2 is not marked, but can be anywhere around the edge of the cavern.
When The Text Says: It Really Means:
(1) 1
(2) 2
(3a) 3
(3b) 4
(4) 5
(5) 6
(6) 7
(7) 8
On
this map, all the letters are correct until you get to (7). The text on
(7) refers to the river which flows off the page to the right.
The
text on (8), then, applies to the area labelled "7" on the map.
On
the map itself, the label "2 Km per meter" really means "2 km per hex."
When The Text Says: It Really Means:
(1) 1
(2a) 2
(2b) 3
(2c) 4
(3) 5
On the map itself, "UIT" should be "Uti". And the label "2 Km per Meter" actually means "2 meters per hex."
When The Text Says: It Really Means:
(1) 1
(2) 1
(2a) 4
(2b) 5
(2c) 6
(3) 3
(3a) 7
(3b) 8
(4) 9
The scale, not listed on the map, is "1 hex equals 30 feet."
When The Text Says: It Really Means:
(1) 1
(2) 2
(3) 3
(3a) 3
(4) 6

Nova Roma is due northeast of the Three Sisters. As you can see, there is
a promontory of the mainland due north of that island, then another,
smaller one slightly to the southeast, and a third, also small, further
southeast; the third promontory is where the city lies.
(8)
Cartago is on the far side of the narrowest straits of the North Sea —
it is east of the island chain there. Find the easternmost of the islands
of the chain that nearly blocks the strait, and go due north from there:
You'll go straight to a gulf surrounded by cliffs, and there, on the
northernmost point, is Cartago.
The
map scale, not listed, is Continental scale, 160 km to the hex.
This
map is correct for numbers (1) to (8). Text (9) actually refers to the
district to the northeast of the Valerius' palace. Text (10) refers to
#9 on the map, and Text (11) refers to #10 on the map.
The
map scale, not listed, is one hex equals 60 meters.
This
map is correct for numbers (1) to (4). Text (5) was a general note and not
supposed to be keyed to the map.
The
map scale, not listed, is one hex equals 60 meters. Cartago, though almost
a third the size of Nova Roma, is not as densely populated.
This headline reading "Jungle and Forest" over "Bison Alticornis" should instead read "Plains."
There should be a headline over "Quetzalcoatlus" reading "Found Anywhere."
