    An Occurrence at Bifrost Bridge

I'm pleased to announce that my second ArcherRat Publishing e-book, An Occurrence at Bifrost Bridge, is available for purchase. It's a fantasy adventure set in the 1940s. It's a short story with associated author's notes and features a cover by my good friend Denis Loubet. I hope you like it.

It's currently available from two vendors in a variety of formats. It's available at the Amazon.com Kindle Store for Kindle devices and readers, and available here at ArcherRat in five different e-book formats (CHM, EPUB, HTML, MOBI, and PDF). You can purchase it from ArcherRat through use of the PayPal service. Please see my store page for details on the e-book and for links to purchase it either from Amazon or from here.

In addition, Dead But Hostile is now available from ArcherRat in the same five e-book formats. Please see the store page for it as well.

An Occurrence at Bifrost Bridge will soon be available from the Apple iBookstore; please check back here over the next few days if you'd like to purchase it from that vendor.

Legends Presents: Dead But Hostile For iPhone
Dead But Hostile is now avaible for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
This edition of Dead But Hostile is an application rather than an e-bok intended to be handled by an e-book reader program. Install it on your iPhone or iPod Touch and what you get is an e-book and an integrated reader in one standalone app.
The technology comes from developer ZappTek, whose Legends line was a pioneer in providing fiction for the iPhone platform.
You can find a link to take you to the iTunes App Store page for Dead But Hostile on my store page or here.

Dead But Hostile Now In Paper
The ArcherRat Publishing line continues (very slowly) to expand as we add a print edition of Dead But Hostile to the catalogue.
Print On Demand — here's a little side information for the easily amused — is a process by which people can order books printed on a very short-run or even one-off basis. The central apparatus is a very sophisticated photocopying machine that accepts highly formatted and preflighted files and outputs professional, bound books. Sadly, economies of scale mean that they can't price those books as low as, for instance, mass market paperbacks, but the amazing thing is that the bear dances at all.
Anyway, the print edition of Dead But Hostile is now for sale at the web site of one Print On Demand service, Blurb.com. It's a 42-page, 5"x8" paperback retailing for $7.99 plus the usual tax and shipping charges. You can get to the ordering page at this link.
Coming soon: more e-book editions of Dead But Hostile, and the next title for release in the ArcherRat line is undergoing final edit.

    Problem Solved
The slight problem I mentioned in my last post has apparently been solved, and all before I could even make an inquiry about it. The description of Dead But Hostile uploaded for its Amazon Kindle Store page showed up there earlier today. Hooray for self-correcting problems...

Dead But Hostile E-Book Available For Kindle
The first version of the first ArcherRat Publishing e-books is now available for sale. The Amazon Kindle version of the Dead But Hostile mini-collection became available today. Check out the cover, right; the art is by my longtime friend and collaborator, Denis Loubet.
You can go to ArcherRat's store page for more information or directly to the Amazon.com Kindle store page to order.
At the moment, the description entered for the e-book does not show up on the Amazon page; I'll be checking into that and (I hope) getting it straightened out soon. For now, though, I'm happy that the book is online and available.
In the near future, Dead But Hostile will become available in more formats, including stand-alone iPhone apps, several e-book formats (.epub, .html, .mobi, .pdf) sold as a single unit from this site, and in print form. Wish us luck...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: AARON ALLSTON, allston@aaronallston.com
October 15, 2009

Aaron Allston Launches ArcherRat Publishing
New York Times bestselling novelist Aaron Allston has launched ArcherRat Publishing, a publishing concern chiefly devoted to the sale and distribution of his works in digital form, and its associated web site, ArcherRat.com.
Though most of Allston's novels will continue to appear in traditional published form from brick-and-mortar publisheers, ArcherRat Publishng will allow him to distribute works of a "niche" nature, including:
  • Novels that have already appeared in print and whose rights have reverted to the author
  • Short stories
  • Nonfiction
  • Role-playing game material
  • Remaindered copies of in-print novels
  • Memorabilia, souvenirs, and other "branded" items
The majority of releases from ArcherRat Publishing will be digital files in a number of e-book formats, including ePub, Kindle, and HTML formats. Files sold from the ArcherRat Publishing web site will not include DRM (Digital Rights Management) encoding.
"The field of e-publishing is very vital and volatile right now, and no one knows what form it will take when all the dust settles," Allston says. "So I'm very happy to get involved now, to stay ahead of the game as much as possible — and to make some work available that my readers would not otherwise be able to see."
The official ArcherRat Publishing web site is at www.archerrat.com. Allston's personal web site is at www.aaronallston.com.
